One thing that I really love about Arizona is the summertime lightning displays (and the storms that come along with). Beautiful. Truly.
Last night we had an awesome storm. Luckily the lightning came several minutes before the rain, so I got to try taking pictures of lightning (something I've always wanted to do) without getting soaked!
Nice pictures! I was watching that last night, it was so cool. Didn't even think to take pictures though. I guess you'd have to sit with your camera pointed and wait and hope you pointed it in the right spot?
Yeah, I just set up my tripod and put it on the continuos setting. Then I took about 400 pictures at a 1/4 second shutter speed and got about 10 with lightning in them:) There is probably a better way to do it though...
I am a metalsmith, educator, wife, and mother, living the life of an ex-pat in Doha, Qatar. I moved to Doha from Arizona, where I had previously spent most of my life. I earned a Bachelors of fine art in metals in 2006, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Metals in 2010. I was the resident artist at the Mesa Art Center from 2010-2013, and an adjunct professor in metals at Central Arizona College. I am currently trying to balance navigating/living in a foreign country with being a mother and a practicing artist. My blog is a place for me to share my thoughts, experiences, successes and failures with you.
