I've been doing a little drawing lately...nothing serious, just for fun. I was never any good at it, but there is something very calming about taking a pencil to some paper and just letting your mind take you where it wants.
It seems like there is so much potential with the figure, his shadow and the links. It's almost interesting to see a solitary (either sad figure or confidant) with the links connected. The links seem like a longing for connection or that he is tied down to something. Add in the platter, an offertory figure or sometimes representing wealth or a memory of a past time. Finally, the embroidery, another link to past or comfort. I don't know, it just seems like your imagery is starting to have a place to go. I'll be interested to see where you travel on this. Good luck. You look like you're having fun.
I am a metalsmith, educator, wife, and mother, living the life of an ex-pat in Doha, Qatar. I moved to Doha from Arizona, where I had previously spent most of my life. I earned a Bachelors of fine art in metals in 2006, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Metals in 2010. I was the resident artist at the Mesa Art Center from 2010-2013, and an adjunct professor in metals at Central Arizona College. I am currently trying to balance navigating/living in a foreign country with being a mother and a practicing artist. My blog is a place for me to share my thoughts, experiences, successes and failures with you.
