In early August I had the opportunity to travel to Layton, New Jersey to teach a week long filigree workshop at Peters Valley Craft Center. I had SO MUCH fun! The students were awesome...so enthusiastic and productive. We had a really great time. Here are some photos from my week there.
The campus is actually in a state park, so all of the buildings and structures are historic buildings, most are more than 100 years old.
I got to give my slide lecture in this old church (below). It was hands down the coolest place I have ever given a talk on my work!
There was a graveyard behind the church, and this cast iron headstone was amazing.
I made these earrings during the class and donated them for the weekly auction at Peters Valley.
Heres an image of part of the studio space.
And here is just one example of student work from the class...all the students left with several finished pieces and lots of things in progress. They were a very productive bunch!
I had such a great time and hope to be invited back in the future!
