10x10 Benefit Show and Sale at Mesa Art Center this Sunday!

It's that time of year again! It's time for the Mesa Art Center 10x10 Benefit Show and Sale! I just barely finished my piece...whew! See details below.
When: Tuesday, October 5 - Sunday, October 10, 2010
Where: Mesa Contemporary Arts

Mesa Contemporary Arts' (MCA) is pleased to announce its Second Annual 10 x 10 Benefit Show & Sale, which will feature the work of over 100 artists from Arizona and beyond. Participating artists are asked to create an original work (2-D or 3-D) of art in keeping with the 10 x 10" theme. The competed pieces will be on display at MCA from Oct 5-10 and sold at the reception on Oct 10. Each piece will be available for $100. First come, first pick! Doors open at 2pm sharp! All proceeds benefit MCA exhibitions and educational programs.

Reception & Sale: 10-10-10 (Oct 10, 2010), 2-4:30pm

- $10 per person at the door

- MCA Members (and one guest) get in free and 10% off their entire purchase*

- Catering by Creative Hands of Mesa

- Cash Bar

Here are some progress shots of my piece. I decided to keep in the same theme that I used for my piece last year and have the 10x10 be a sort of display for a wearable piece of jewelry. I originally painted the canvas gray, but then it seemed too boring so I drew this pattern on and started painting again. It took me like 6 hours to paint the pattern on. I am SO not a painter!

Then I made these copper hands that double as hooks to hold a necklace.

They protrude just a little bit from the canvas to add some depth.

The necklace is three strands of individually knotted freshwater pearls and garnet teardrop shaped beads, tied on red silk.

I hope someone likes it enough to buy it!

Birthday Sale One Day Only 25% Off

On July 8th I will be turning 25! That seems like a milestone age for me...not sure why. Anyway, I decided to have a ONE DAY ONLY sale to celebrate my birthday!! One week from today, everything in my shop will be 25% off that day only. Don't worry, I will be listing lots of new items from now until then, so there will be lots to choose from! ALSO, I got a studio assistantship at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts this summer, so I will be in Tennessee from July10-August9. This means my shop will be closing down for that entire month and I will most likely be delivering all of my inventory to my local retailer.
Moral of the story: Get it while you can!
Thanks!

SALE for SNAG

This year I really want to go to the SNAG conference in Philadelphia. I looked at all the costs and figured it would cost me about $1200 to go. I don't have $1200 (or anything close to that!) I applied for a scholarship through school with hopes of getting partial funding, but I still need to come up with several hundred dollars on my own (if I even get the scholarship!).
This is where YOU come in.
I have just marked down EVERYTHING in my shop...some items as much as $75.00 off. I am having a BIG SALE in my etsy shop to try and earn money to go to SNAG! So, if you are in need of some new bling, want to buy gifts for friends, or just want to live vicariously through me and go to the SNAG conference, head on over to my etsy shop and help a girl out! I plan on adding new items all this month that will also be marked at a discounted rate. So, keep checking for new jewels! Woo Hoo!!
