I'm excited to share with you that I've been featured in the May issue of Phoenix Magazine. Check it out on newsstands now...I'm on page 38!

The feature includes a plug for my upcoming 3 person show at Mesa Art Center. The exhibition is called "eleMEnTAL" and includes the work of Becky McDonah, Tedd McDonah, and myself. See details below.

2nd Place

Just wanted to share that my booth won 2nd place at the Mesa Arts Festival:) It was a great weekend, beautiful weather, lots of shoppers and my last big thing before Christmas. Great way to hit off my month long break from work:)

Oh, and I should mention that it was baby Ellie's first art fair. She was a great sport and charmed all my customers! My husband had this little onesie made especially for the weekend. So CUTE. Made by my friend Randi.

Hi All!

I just wanted to let you all know about an event I will be participating in this weekend...the Holiday Art and Music Festival at Mesa Art Center! There will be lots of local and national artists selling wonderful things (great for gift giving!) There will also be lots of things to do for the family, music, childrens activities, food, demonstrations etc. Please see the attached flyers for more info. I would love to see you all there!

Good News: Selling Locally at Mesa Art Center Store

Some of my jewelry will now be carried at the Mesa Art Center Store, so if you are local head on down to Mesa Arts and take a look! The Mesa Art Center Store is a great place to find wonderful art things that you can give as gifts or keep for yourself! All proceeds from the store go to support the programs at Mesa Art Center...and we all know how important that is these days. Also, the Mesa Art Center is a beautiful building in downtown Mesa that has several galleries with shows that change regularly, and a performing arts center...if you haven't been you really should go!

30th Annual Mesa Contemporary Crafts Opening Reception

The opening reception for the Mesa Contemporary Craft Show was on Friday night. The show was really great and a wonderful display of what is going on in the craft world today. I wish a bit more work had been included in the show, I never mind if a gallery is a bit packed (just means more to look at), but the juror did a great job selecting pieces that were very diverse, while also complimenting eachother.
I had so many friends and family come to support me and I appreciate you ALL! Thanks so much to everyone who came. Really. You guys mean a lot to me:) My mom always takes a picture of me by my work. I get really red and embarrassed every single time, but I love her for it. Thanks mom! See, you always said someday I'd thank you:)
Anyway, the show was awesome and you should all go see it if you can. It stays up until March 15th.

Mesa Contemporary Crafts Exhibition

"Highlighting the finest in contemporary crafts from around the country, Mesa Contemporary Art’s Annual Contemporary Crafts exhibition has become a benchmark for innovation and quality. This year represents a milestone for the museum as it celebrates the 30th anniversary of this popular juried exhibition. Representative of traditional craft mediums including ceramics, fibers, basketry, metals, wood, glass, jewelry, papermaking and book arts, this exhibition showcases 58 artworks by 39 artists from 14 states."

The opening is January 23rd from 6-8pm. The show runs Jan 23-Mar 15, 2009. Mesa Arts Center is located on the corner of Main Street and Center Street in Downtown Mesa. For more info: http://www.mesaartscenter.com/

LOVE LETTERS
In the spirit of Valentine's Day, "Love Letters" is an exhibition of art created by current ASU graduate students and recent graduates of the program. Artists working in various media including paint, ceramics, video, woods, fibers, metals, printmaking and photography each received a letter of the alphabet and made a piece in response to that letter. Work by 29 different artists will be presented.

The show will be at Modified Arts .

Third Friday, January 16th – Artists’ Reception
First Friday, February 6th – Closing Reception
Sunday, February 15th – Show officially closes

30th Annual Mesa Contemporary Craft Show Press

Look at what I got in the mail today!!! It is the brochure for the Mesa Contemporary Craft Exhibition...and my work is on the cover!!! I am so excited! Wow!

You should all come to see the show! There are tons of other ASU people in it as well as many other artists from all over the country.
ASU graduate students in the show include: Shuching Chen, Nick Deford, Sally Gilmore, and Ann Morton.

Also, Jesse Armstrong, ASU ceramics grad has his own solo show in conjunction with the craft show as he was last years contemporary craft show jurors winner. (see center of brochure)

I especially cannot wait to see the work of Sarah Perkins, and also Natalya Pinchuk who are very well known metalsmiths.

Whirlwind Day

Saturday was absolutley crazy. Wonderful, but crazy. I had to be at Mesa Art Center at 8:00 am to set up my booth for the Holiday Art and Music Festival. The fair has been going on for 3 years now, and my friend and studio mate Victoria Altepeter and I have shared a booth together all 3 years. So we got all set up, and then I had to drive all the way to downtown Phoenix to teach my etching class at Phoenix Center for the Arts (more on that later). It was fun, but then after the 3 hour class I had to rush back over to Mesa to watch my booth for the last 2 hours of the show before takedown. We got all cleaned up, I drove home and unloaded the truck really quick and then dashed to the movie theater to go see Twilight. Besides the fact that I got virtually NO sleep for a week before the show because I was frantically trying to get jewelry made, that was a really exhausting day! It was super fun though. Oh, and can I just point out that it was a beautiful, sunny 78 degrees?! I know you are all jealous!!!

My husband sat at the booth with Victoria while I was teaching. I was so happy that he was willing to help me out. I am a lucky girl! I think he may have even had fun:)

Victoria won 1st place jurors award for the show because her jewelry is AMAZING and she gets her booth for free next year! I will be sad that we won't be sharing the booth, but we decided that we will just have to have our booths right next to eachother so we can still be together! This is some of the jewelry (below) she had at the show, isn't it amazing?! She has opened an etsy shop and is working on getting things listed. You should check it out. If she doesn't have much listed, check back later as she is just getting started!

Anyway, it was really a fun day and we both did really well. There was so much traffic! Our booth was busy all day. One thing that was so great was that we had so many friends come to support us. So many of our customers were return customers from last year, which is such a compliment. We were so glad to have so many friends, family members and supporters come and stop by our booth. Thank you so much. You make all of our hard work worth it!

Unfortunately I have to teach at Phoenix Center for the Arts that day, so I have to leave my booth for a stretch in the middle of the show. My husband Scott will be there to watch my booth and he is a much better salesman than I so watch out! I should be around at the beginning of the day, and also for the last few hours so be sure to stop by and say hello.
