Animales

I finally have some images of some pieces I have been working on (more mentally than physically) for a while now. I was invited along with 8 other "contemporary studio jewelers" (haven't ever been called that before!) to participate in a show at the Facere Art Gallery in Seattle (image above taken from their website). I am SO excited to have been given this huge opportunity! WOW!! The show opens in January and I am making good progress on the 6-10 pieces they requested for the show. The show is entitled, Animales, which had a theme (obviously) of animal related things. So, being who I am and what I make my work about, this was somewhat of a challenge for me. It took me quite a while to come up with something! I decided to go with tracks as it goes with my current concept I am working with for my other work. My other work (at the moment) is focusing on imprints, remnants, traces of ourselves that we leave behind (consciously or not). Click here to see what other artists are working on for the show. Here is what I have so far...

I've been meaning to comment on these - I love how you translated the theme of the show and made it your own - the tracks are such a great exploration and I really love the threading in combination with the animal footprints. Looks like it's going to be a really cool show with a great mix of artists. Congrats! Your work definitely belongs at Facere :-)

I cannot get over how talented and innovative you are; any way I say it seems like an understatement.

SO, it is no surprise that you've been invited to Seattle! Congrats! That's awesome - what an opportunity! I can't wait to hear more about it.
